First Congressional Hearing on Treaty Implementatoin

From the Campaign for a New Domestic Human Rights Agenda
The Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Human Rights and the Law will be holding its first hearing on domestic implementation of human rights treaties on Wednesday, Dec. 16th. We need to let them know how important it is that they are holding this hearing and that we’d like to see more hearings on domestic implementation of human rights.
Make your voice heard!
Today or tomorrow (Wednesday), please call the Subcommittee and thank Senators Durbin and Coburn for holding this important meeting. If possible, please call between 9:00am and 10:30 tomorrow morning (Wed) before the hearing starts, so that they know we’re supportive.

Thank them for their leadership on this issue and ask them to hold another hearing on domestic human rights implementation soon. You can make a recommendation on the issue that you would like them to consider, or suggest that they review implementation of each of the human rights treaties that the U.S. has ratified (race discrimination, torture, or civil and political rights).
If your Senator sits on the Subcommittee, please email or call them as well to thank them and urge them to hold more hearings on domestic implementation of human rights.
